Hunt Valve (www.huntvalve.com), a fluid power engineering company specializing in severe-duty valves and components, has released descale valves that deliver reliable, continuous production with the least amount of downtime at rolling mills. These valves have provided decades of dependable performance at the world’s leading steel production facilities.
“To ensure superior surface quality and compete in the steel commodities market, steel manufacturers must use a descaling process that delivers optimal performance throughout the total length of the product,” explained Brad Sterner, Hunt Valve’s president and CEO. “Our descaling valves are designed to create the best descale impingement with the least amount of water and provide the highest pressure possible to the descale headers, maintaining this pressure throughout the strip length.”
State-of-the-Art Poppet Valve for Descaling Applications
Hunt Valve’s proportional poppet valve for descaling applications lasts three to five times longer than traditional poppet valves. Eliminating the effects of water hammer and system shock, this innovative valve promotes safety, reduces annual operating costs and decreases unscheduled downtime in the plant. Proportional poppet valve technology is ideal for all descale applications, including isolation, minimum flow pump bypass, descale header control, accumulator safety shut-off and header pre-fill.
For customers who do not upgrade to Hunt Valve’s cost-saving, state-of-the-art poppet technology, the company still offers support for its legacy plunger style valves, which were designed with a hollow-drilled, radial-ported plunger. Hunt Valve will continue supporting the new valve, remanufacturing and spare part requirements for its legacy plunger-style descaling products.
